South Molton
The Historic town of South Molton dates from early Saxon times and its many interesting buildings date from different eras. The Town Square, laid out in the Middle Ages, is central to the town and is the location of our office, opposite the imposing Town Hall and adjoining Pannier Market. Of huge importance in times past to the woollen industry, South Molton flourishes today as an unspoilt and traditional market town serving a huge hinterland of dramatic Devon and Exmoor scenery, pretty villages and with tourism playing an important part,
The town’s excellent location in North Devon means that some of the country’s finest beaches are not far away, as is the rugged coastline boasting some of the highest cliffs in the country looking over the Bristol Channel which has the second highest tidal range in the world.
The landscape of moorland, close to South Molton, on Exmoor has many unique features including Exmoor Ponies, red deer herd (the largest in the country) and Tarr Steps the oldest and longest Clapper Bridge in the country.
Access to the A361 North Devon Link Road brings the regional centre of Barnstaple in the west with high street multiples and out of town shopping a short drive by car or regular bus, and to the south-east Tiverton with M5 and Intercity Rail links. The Tarka Line between Barnstaple and Exeter provides an additional rail transport along an exquisite rural line.
